August. The air is heavy with summer, but crackling, too, with excitement: Wakefest is about to begin. Every year, workshops, performances, art installations and vernissages spring up all over town in celebration of the arts, of community and of collaboration.Galerie McKenzie Marcotte is thrilled to be participating in Wakefest again. This year, we will be hosting Hannah Ranger’s exhibition, Airborne. In line with this year’s Wakefest theme of Pirate Radio, Hannah’s felted wall hanging are inspired by notions of transmission and reception, and what broadcast signals might look like depicted in felted fibers. The air around Wakefield will be full this weekend – of pirate radio waves, of music, of inspiring conversation. We hope you will feel the crackle of excitement in the air. We hope you will stop by to see Hannah’s work and consider all that is Airborne.
Airborne opens at Galerie McKenzie Marcotte on Friday August 23 with a vernissage from 5 to 7 pm. The exhibition will continue until September 4. After the opening, please join us as we walk to the Covered Bridge for the screening of a silent film with a live, original musical score by Mike Dubue.
